What AI Watch Select keeps, what leaves your phone, and how to get rid of it.
Version 1. Last changed 10 September 2026.
The short version
- Your answers, the watches you save and your past selections are kept on your phone.
- A copy goes into your own iCloud. We never see it.
- Deleting the app does not delete your iCloud backup, so a new phone can get your watches back. To remove it too, use Delete everything first.
- There is no account and no password. We do not track you and we run no analytics.
- Your answers do leave your phone at one moment, and only one: when you ask us for a selection.
What is kept on your phone
All of this sits in the app’s own storage on your device:
- Your answers to the nine questions.
- The watches you saved.
- Your past selections, including the sentences written about each watch.
- A count of how many free selections you have used.
- A random string that stands for this installation. It is not your name, and nothing links it to you. Clearing the app’s data makes a new one.
- If you are a member, the receipt Apple signed.
- If you have used Ask us to find one, the name, email and phone you gave, so you do not type them twice.
In a browser this all lives in the browser’s storage, and clearing your browsing data removes it.
Your iCloud backup
Kept in your own iCloud, on your Apple ID and your storage. We never see it.
It holds your answers, your saved watches and your past selections. It does not hold the count of free selections, so restoring an old copy cannot give you a selection back.
This stops new copies. It does not delete the copy you already have.
Deleting the app does not delete your iCloud backup, so a new phone can get your watches back. To remove it too, use Delete everything first.
We say we never see it, and we mean only that. The file sits in Apple’s iCloud Drive under your Apple ID, so what Apple can read is between you and Apple.
When you ask for a selection
To choose your watches we send your nine answers to our server, including anything you typed in your own words.
One identifier goes with them: the random installation string, or, if you are a member, the transaction id Apple signed. That is how we count the selections you have used. Neither carries your name or your email address.
Our server narrows the catalogue to a shortlist, then sends that shortlist and your answers to Anthropic, whose Claude models put the watches in order and write the explanation of each. We do not send Anthropic your name, your email address or the identifier above.
We keep the count. We do not keep your answers on our server once the selection has been made, and the finished selection is stored on your phone rather than by us.
Asking us to find a watch
Your own email app opens with all of this already written out. Nothing leaves your phone until you press send there.
So the request never passes through anything of ours. It arrives as an email in our inbox, and a copy sits in your own sent folder, where only you can remove it.
Your name, email and phone stay on your phone so you do not retype them for the next watch. Forget my details, on that screen, removes them.
When we act on your request we copy your name, email, phone and what you asked for into our own records, so that we can follow it up and remember what was said.
How long we keep that record: [Still to be decided: how long a sourcing request is kept once it is finished]
Ask us at support@aiwatchselect.com and we will remove it. We cannot reach the email you sent, because it was sent from your own account.
Email about the app
We only have your email address if you gave it to us. There is no sign-up in the app.
If you asked us to email you, we keep your address and the date you agreed until you tell us to stop. When you do, we mark the record rather than delete it, so we can show that you asked us to stop.
Paying for a membership
Apple takes the payment. We never see your card. Apple hands the app a signed receipt, and we use the id inside it to count your selections. Apple does not give us your name or your address.
What we do not do
- No accounts and no passwords.
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking between apps or websites.
- The typefaces are part of the app, so no font service ever sees you.
- We do not sell your details, and we do not pass them to anyone for their own purposes.
Getting rid of it
On your phone: open Backup from your account, choose Delete everything, and type the word it asks for.
This removes everything from this phone and deletes your iCloud backup. The backup goes first. If it cannot be reached, nothing is deleted. It cannot be undone.
For anything we hold, email support@aiwatchselect.com and we will remove it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to object to what we are doing with it. Email us and we will answer.

Changes to this policy
This page carries a version number and a date, and both change in the same breath as the code they describe. If we start keeping something new, this page says so before we do it.
